Blarney Canyon - West Fork

On Saturday, October 14, 2023, Steph, John, Drew and I descended the West Fork of Blarney Canyon.
It was a pretty straightforward day.  Steph and I descended this canyon 12 years previous.  It was longer and more fun than we remembered.  Thankfully there weren't nearly as many daddy long legs! :)

This day was also a big deal in Hanksville because
it was an ideal location to view the 'Ring of Fire' solar eclipse.
We drove up to the radio tower that overlooks Hanksville to watch it.

White Roost Canyon - East Fork

On Friday, October 13, 2023, Steph, John, Drew and I descended White Roost Canyon.

If we had known how good this canyon was, we would have done it a long time ago!

It was challenging to get our boys through, but not so difficult that it crushed their spirits.  A good time was had by all and we were pretty tired a the end of the day.

The start of a 40 foot downclimb.  Visually intimidating, but not difficult.

This was Drew's first unassisted adult-sized rappel.
30 feet into a slot using a CRITR.
We were so proud!

John and I took a short break before retrieving the truck.
Thank you John for volunteering to keep me company!

Black Magic Canyon

On September 9th, 2023, Steph, John, Drew, and I re-visited Black Magic Canyon.  This was a fun and easy excursion compared to our previous visit, back when our boys were very young.  There were 2 or 3 large owls that flew over us several times.  We also found a small feisty bull snake.  It was a fun and casual adventure with the family.
